Burnham Beeches

Today has been a beautiful day - all birdsong and blue skies. We decided to make the most of it by spending the day outdoors, in a leisurely kind of way, with a delicious picnic.

It was a bit of a snap decision so nothing was homemade, but it was delicious nonetheless. Little pastries, scotch eggs, savoury scones with cream cheese, olives and so on. Oh, and Victoria sponge cake!

Delicious Picnic in the Park

We had our picnic in Burnham Beeches, which is a woodland not too far from where we live. Although it is out near Slough, Burnham Beeches is owned by the City of London, which I thought was interesting. As well as being very beautiful it is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and has lots of ancient trees and some ancient earthworks that are scheduled monuments.

It was a very pleasant way to spend a lazy day!
